Low-cost housing land confiscated
THE Selangor Government has confiscated land from three developers for failing
to implement low-cost housing projects. The lands are in the Petaling, Gombak
and Ampang districts.
Talam, the biggest builder of housing
SOME 40,000 units of housing are built in the country each year by private
and public sector developers but this number is too small because there is
a shortfall of at least 500,000 houses nationwide. Of the total number being
built annually, Talam Corporation Bhd builds 12,000 units, or about one-third.
This makes Talam one of the largest builders of affordable houses in the country
and in terms of unit sales, the largest developer.
