KUALA LUMPUR 18 April - Penggubalan draf Undang-Undang Bangunan dan Harta Bersama (RUU BHB) telah disiapkan dan disemak oleh Jabatan Peguam Negara pada September lalu, kata Menteri Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.

THE proposed Building and Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Bill, which aims to accommodate developments in the housing sector, needs to be studied further. Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said the Bill was finalised by the Attorney-General’s Chambers in September last year but its tabling was delayed because of several emerging factors.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11, 2006): The days when developers of high-rise apartments lord over their property in the initial years -- sometimes making decisions against the interest of their buyers -- will soon be over. Under the Building and Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Bill 2006 which will go through the second reading in the Dewan Rakyat this week, the buyers and the developer will have to form a "Joint Management Body" to manage the affairs and interests of the owners, before strata titles are issued.

The Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Bill which is to better protect owners of common property including high-rise flats and condominiums was passed, and the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Act was amended.
