THE All-PJ Pro Action Committee or APPAC has been registered with the
Registrar of Societies with the new name of All-Petaling Jaya Selangor
Residents Association Coalition (APAC).
A new committee was elected during an inaugural general meeting on June 27.
Tengku Nazaruddin: Elected deputy president and appointed chairman of the
Condominium, Apartments and Highrise Committee. Businessman Liew Wei Beng is
the newly-elected president, taking over from former pro tem chairman Edward
Lee, who is now the Bukit Gasing assemblyman.
Tengku Nazaruddin Zainudin was elected deputy president and appointed
chairman of the Condominium, Apartments and Highrise Committee (CAHC).
The general secretary is Yeoh Kean Wah while M. Paramasivam is the assistant
secretary and Rajasoorian Ramanathan the treasurer.
The other committee members are Leonard Nathan and R. Ramachandran Pheer
Mohamed.
Liew said the committee would continue to put pressure on the Petaling Jaya
City Council (MBPJ) to shed light on certain issues like the 10% increase in
assessment rates in 2006.
“We want to look at the MBPJ accounts as we have not seen them since 1999.
We also want to know about the accounts of the disbanded MPPJ Football
Club,” he said.
According to Liew, another pressing issue is that of illegal billboards.
“We want clear cut guidelines on the setting-up of billboards. For example,
the number of billboards allowed at a certain junction should be limited,”
he said.
Liew said the committee also wanted the MBPJ to justify the privatisation of
parking services.
“There is no reason for the MBPJ to privatise the collection of parking fees
as that would mean less revenue to the council,” he said.
Nazaruddin, meanwhile, said they would continue to fight for the revision of
assessment rates for condominiums and apartments.
He said the CAHC had also started giving advice and guidance to condominium
owners regarding the formation of joint management bodies. |
