KUALA LUMPUR: House buyers of three abandoned housing schemes in Puchong are
relieved that a contractor has finally been appointed to revive their
    projects.

The house buyers’ representa - tives were informed, during a meeting at the
Housing and Local Government Ministry on Thursday, that Isyoda Corporation
Berhad had been appointed by the developer, Talam Corporation Berhad, to
revive the abandoned projects at Taman Lestari Permai, Taman Lestari Puchong
    and Taman Lestari Perdana.

The previous contractors were Salam Kurnia Sdn Bhd and IJM Corporation
    Berhad.

Recently highlighted in Streets, the housing schemes were abandoned by Talam
    Corporation Berhad in 2003.

    P. Sri Ganes, 31, representing the house buyers of Taman Lestari Perdana,
said he was relieved a contractor had been appointed.

But he was not pleased to learn that he has to wait another year for the
    housing scheme to be completed.

“I don’t understand. Why do they need one year to finish building our houses
when eighty percent of the work is already completed?” K.P Leong, 43, who
represents the house buyers of Taman Lestari Puchong, said it was too early
to get excited about thenewcontractor reviving the projects.

“We understand that they are trying to help us. But what transpired in the
meetingwas simply a verbal agreement between both par ties.

“What we want is a letter from the developer stating the commencement date
of the abandoned project.” Nevertheless, Leong said the housebuyers were
glad that Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Hamzah
Zainuddin had visited the sites of the abandoned projects on June 14.

When approached, IJM Corporation declined to comment.
