     No more blackouts, residents 
    assured

    KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 
     
    Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has promised residents of Sri Petaling, Salak 
    South Garden, Kampung Malaysia and Taman Sri Endah that their nightmare of 
    frequent power failures will soon be over. 
     
    Kuala Lumpur TNB (Selatan) area manager Zubir Hashim told the residents that 
    TNB is spending RM6 million to improve supply in the area. 
     
    About RM5 million is for the installation of a new substation in Taman Sri 
    Endah and another RM974,000 is to lay new cables from the existing 
    substation in Perkampungan Sukan. 
     
    The new substation will supplement the existing substations in Salak South, 
    Berjaya Golf in Bukit Jalil and Selangor Turf Club in Sungai Besi to cater 
    to the four areas. 
     
    The meeting, which was held at the TNB office in Jalan Klang Lama, was 
    arranged after the residents complained of frequent power failures in the 
    past five weeks, especially in the mornings. 
     
    At that meeting, Zubir explained that the reasons for the power failures. 
     
    "To rectify the problem, we’ve placed at least five temporary mobile 
    generator sets to cater to the increasing demand for power supply from the 
    affected areas, at least until the installation of new cables from the 
    substation in Perkampungan Sukan is completed on Sept 26," he said. 
     
    "We will also install a new substation in Taman Sri Endah. The project will 
    start as soon as we receive approval from City Hall, which should be very 
    soon," he said. 
     
    Zubir said the new substation will support future growth in the four 
    residential areas. 
     
    Also present yesterday were Commercial Affairs assistant manager Khairul 
    Hisham Ahmad and KL Selatan planning and project engineer Shah Nawaz Asan 
    Gany. 
     
    KL Selatan residents were represented by Rukun Tetangga Taman Sri Endah Fasa 
    2 chairman Len Nyok Chong, Chuah Hun Leong, Tan Tian Meng and Lee Wong Chai.  |
