34 days and the pipe is still leaking
The Star 1/8/2005

ON JUNE 24, I called the Kulim Public Works Department to report a leaking water pipe in front of my house.

To my pleasant surprise, a contractor arrived in a lorry within 30 minutes of my call.

He took a look and promised to return within two to three days as he did not have sufficient tools with him. (One wonders how contracts were awarded to those who do not even have sufficient tools to perform relatively simple jobs.)

Now, more than 34 days have passed and the leak is still not fixed. In between, I have called the department six times and was told someone would be sent the next day.

I asked for a complaint number or a reference number and was told the department did not have such a system.

Each time I called, it would ask for my address but not my name or my telephone number.

Recently, another leak sprang in front of my neighbour's house. Apparently, the whole neighbourhood is plagued with the same problem.

As the housing area is relatively new, being only about three years old, the quality of water pipe laid by the developer is questionable.

Surely the Kulim Public Works Department can be more conscientious, responsible and professional.

DON'T WASTE WATER,
Kulim.
