Residents: It's a road to a major disaster
The Star 2/5/2005 By Jayandi Jayaraj

WITH Tiara Putra coming up in their area, residents of BRP 7/1 and BRP 7/3 in Bukit Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh, are beginning to worry.

Their reason is that the main access to their neighbourhoods will soon be connected to a trunk road at the new residential development where about 500 houseowners are expected to move in.

Woodsdale and Kenwick Residents Association chairman Lim Soon Cheong said if the access road was to be extended to Tiara Putra, there would be traffic congestion on the road, especially since there were two schools along Jalan BRP 7/1 alone.

He said the road was the residents' only access into BRP 7/1 and opening the road to another residential area would be unwise.

“Besides posing a danger to schoolchildren, the road is also not meant for heavy vehicle use,'' said Lim. “There will also cause pollution and accidents,” he said during a visit to the road with Gerakan BRP branch chairman Lee Hui Seng.

Lim said Hong Leong Properties built the 19.8m Jalan BRP 7/1 for residents of BRP 7/1. Lee said the association and schools had sent three complaint letters to Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).

“The authorities must study the plan and look into the matter,” he said. When contacted, a representative of Tiara Putra's developer said they had received MPS' approval to connect Jalan BRP 7/1 to Tiara Putra.

He said the connection would compliment the residents of BRP 7/1 and not create problems. “And, there won't be any major traffic problems because Tiara Putra is not a big development.”
