Website to give house buyers the
      true picture
The Star 19/4/2005Residents of Bandar Botanic,
off Jalan Banting-Klang, plan to launch a website and come out with a
guide book to create awareness on the rights of house buyers.
They even intend to have a 'showhouse' to highlight
building defects usually encountered by house buyers. Bandar Botanic Residents Association Phase 5A ad hoc
committee chairman Tan Kim Hai said it was important to educate buyers on
      their rights.
"Many people at Phase 5A are disappointed that the
houses they bought were not built properly, with poor finishing and
sub-standard material. With these kind of problems, it is good to create
      awareness," he said.
Tan, who is one of the buyers of the double-storey
houses at Phase 5A, said the website and the "show-house" would soon be up
      for public viewing.
"Our members in this part of Bandar Botanic have an
average of 12 complaints, including timber strips to replace parquet,
undersized septic tanks, shortage of drains and a single-layer brick wall
      between two houses.
He added that the residents' motive was to ensure that
other buyers were not short-changed. Recently, about 80 residents gathered in Jalan Bungor to
discuss the defects in the houses. Also present was Sungai Pinang assemblyman Teng Chang
      Khim.
