Developer risks court action over strata titles
The Malay Mail 18/11/2005

A DEVELOPER in Kuala Lumpur runs the risk of being hauled to court over its failure to apply for strata titles for its condo project.

Deputy Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk S. Sothinathan said the Ministry would act if the claim made by DAP Bukit Bintang member Fong Kui Lun was true.

He said developers of high-rises are required to apply for strata titles six months after the certificate of fitness issued.

Sothinathan said if the developer fails to do so, he could be hauled up to court.

He said this during the debate for allocations for the Ministry under Budget 2006 at the Committee Stage.

Fong had wanted to know what action could be taken against the Le Chateau condominium management, which had refused to apply for the strata titles even after the CF was issued.

Sothinathan also informed DAP Seputeh membe Teresa Kok that the Ministry would investigate complaints from Sri Desa condominium residents.

The residents have received their titles but found that the management had retained the clubhouse and swimming pool.

Kok said the residents now have to pay to use the facilities.
