Speedier CF approvals

The Penang Island Municipal Council has set up a committee to speed up the processing of building plans and applications for certificate of fitness.

The one-stop steering committee comprises officials from its engineering, building, planning and licensing departments.

There will also be representatives from Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, State Public Works Department, State Drainage and Irrigation Department, Penang Water Authority, Fire and Rescue Department and Indah Water Konsortium Berhad.

The council’s acting president Datuk Jamaludin Hassan said there was previously such a body under the standing committee but they decided to improve its effectiveness.

Speaking to reporters today, he said the committee would attend to complaints from developers.
