A TWO-decade-old problem is finally
resolved when 153 buyers sold their land in Sungai Long in Cheras, Kuala
Lumpur, to a reputable developer at RM12.8mil.
Each landowner will get between RM60,000 and RM120,000.
They bought 183 plots of agriculture land in 1983 and were promised
that their combined 9.2ha would be converted into industrial land.
In 2003, they got tired of waiting and decided to approach the
National House Buyers Association for help.

Association honorary secretary-general Chang Kim Loong said 97% of
the owners had signed the deed of settlement while the remaining could
        not be contacted.
Chang said the remaining owners could claim their share of the sale
proceeds from the original developer’s lawyer.
Later, Wong Choon Onn, who is chairman of the ad-hoc purchasers
committee, donated RM23,000 on behalf of the purchasers to the
association for its help in solving their problem.
