MPAJ to help resolve folks’ woes
The Star 1/10/2005

THE Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has agreed to mediate in the management issue over the Taman Ampang Mewah low-cost flats.

At an informal meeting with a group of 20 residents at MPAJ office last week, MPAJ public relations officer Norhayati Ahmad said the council would look into their complaints and call for a meeting between them and the management company.

The residents, led by Persatuan Masyarakat Wilayah Persekutuan and Selangor (Permas) president Tan Jo Hann, met officials from various departments, such as Building and Architecture Department, to seek a solution to their problems.

Among the residents' grouses were hefty water bill payments, lack of maintenance of water meters and tanks, shortage of parking bays and unreasonable maintenance fees.

They also want to know why many of the homeowners had yet to obtain their certificates of fitness (CF) and strata titles even though they had been living there for more than 13 years.

They claimed that the water tank was rusty and it had only been cleaned once since residents first moved into the flats.

The five blocks of five-storey flats have a total of 429 units. Most of the residents were relocated from the Kampung Aman squatter settlement.
