SEVEN houseowners in Taman Bukit Serdang
Section 6 recently received their certificates of fitness (CF) after waiting
    for more than 10 years.
The seven, whose houses were the only single-storey units in the area,
had not been given CF earlier by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) as
their properties were not built in accordance to the master plan for the
    area.
When the master plan was submitted to the council in the early 1990s,
Serdang MP Datuk Yap Pian Hon said, all the houses in the project were
    listed as double-storey units.

"During construction, these seven out of the over 300 houses were changed
to single-storey units but the approval from the council for this change was
    never sought," he said.
He said when MPSJ checked the site before the approval of CF, it turned
down the application for the houses that were not constructed as per the
    approved plans.
He added that as a result, the owners faced a lot of problems such as not
being able to renovate their properties or request for streetlights in front
    of their homes.
When the affected owners approached Yap for help five years ago, they had
trouble tracing the two companies that developed Section 6 as both had
ceased operations for a number of years.
Eventually, Yap located the architect who had drawn up the original plans
and, through him, they managed to contact the directors from the companies
    concerned.
The directors and the architect then drew up a new plan for the seven
houses and this was submitted to the council for approval.
Houseowner V. Letchumy said they were thankful to the MP for his efforts
in helping them get the CF for their properties as they could now apply for
    the much needed street lights.
She said a number of the residents were factory workers and they were
worried for their safety along the dark stretch of road.    |
