Completed houses a safer investment
NST 12/10/2005

A HOUSING delay of five years is nothing compared to what I have endured over the last 20 years.
I bought a house in Senawang Jaya (Fasa 1C) in the early 80s. Then the recession came and the project was abandoned. My house was 70 per cent completed.

Nobody cared. Not the developer, not the Town Council (Majlis Perbandaran Seremban), not the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. It was left to rot.

Bordering this "jungle" are other rows of completed and occupied houses and even a school. How did this come about?

Not because of the recession but because of the past policy of "sell and build".

Because of one company folding up, more than 100 government servants suffered. I lost five years of my pension to Perbadanan Pinjaman Perumahan.

The pension was deducted to pay for a cancelled loan.

I lost RM40,000 in this investment.

So future house-buyers, buy a house that’s completed and ready for occupation! Don’t make the mistake I did.
