Residents form action group

RESIDENTS of Taman Cangkat Sungai Ara in Penang have formed the Cangkat Sungai Ara Action Group to bring about changes in their area. 

In a visit to the area together with Housing, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Syed Ameruddin Syed Ahmad, chairman of the group Ronnie Tang showed parts of the housing project that had poor lighting, badly tarred roads and poor drainage system. 

Tang said so far about 100 residents had signed up to join the group. 

“Security in this area is lax and crime rate has been increasing. So, we plan to set up a Rukun Tetangga unit so that we can conduct our own patrols,” he added. 

He also said when they bought their houses about 15 years ago, the developer had promised them a clubhouse and a playground. 

“But today, houses have been built on the site of the facilities,” he added.
