Many problems at apartments, say residents
The Star 12/7/2004

THE residents of the Vista Serdang Apartments are unhappy with the management company for not carried out its responsibilities.

The poolside meeting at the apartment complex was also attended by Serdang MP Datuk Yap Pian Hon.

The pro tem chairman of the residents association, Mohd Ramli Raffie, said there was a host of problems that the residents had to contend with.

“The building design here is flawed and because of this, the lift lobby on each floor is flooded whenever it rains.”

There were also cracks that had appeared in many apartments.

“The property managers say it is safe to live here, but the cracks are still appearing and the 600 residents here are all affected,” Mohd Ramli said.

There were lift breakdowns almost every other day, he said, and complaints had fallen on deaf ears.

“Now the management is telling us that they would charge RM6,000 per month just for maintaining the lifts,” he added.

He also said there were a number of security problems.

“There have been a lot of cases here, including illegal VCD selling and attempted robbery and rape.”

Yap said it was important that a proper residents association was formed before tackling these issues.

He said he would look into the problems faced by the residents and promised to arrange a meeting between them and the management company.
