Waive parking fees for residents

25/5/2004 The Star By S.A Lee, Klang.

I have been a resident in one of the shop apartments in Bandar Bukit Tinggi for the past one year.

Recently, the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) had put up banners stating that parking fees would be collected effective May 1 at the rate of 50sen per hour.

Although I have heard that there is a monthly pass of RM40 per month, MPK must bear in mind that this is also a residential area with people living on the upper floors of the shops.

Imagine having to pay to park outside your own home!

This is certainly absurd. We are already paying RM300 a year as maintenance fees.

Perhaps MPK could liase with Labur Bina Sdn Bhd and the Bukit Tinggi developer to issue car stickers for residents so that our parking fees could be waived.

I would also like to bring your attention to the poor postal service in this area.

Important mail such as those from Socso and cellphone bills have not been received.

There is also no post box in the area and a shopkeeper has taken advantage of the situation by charging for the posting of our letters.

One of the simplest forms of communication has been overlooked in the rush to build Tesco, Giant, more offices and another shopping mall.
