No CFs until houses fully completed, says Ong
The Sun 26/4/2004

KUALA LUMPUR: Local authorities have a duty to ensure that housing developers have complied with all the building regulations before applying for a Certificate of Fitness, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Sri Ong Ka Ting said on Sunday.

"I wish to remind all local authorities to check first whether developers have fulfilled all the requirements in a housing project before issuing the acknowledgement letter of acceptance to process their CF applications," he said.

Ong was speaking after opening the 27th general assembly of the Federal Territory, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Pahang Gold and Gem Dealers Association.

He said he had received complaints from house buyers that "E Forms" had been submitted to the local authorities before their houses were even completed.

"One house buyer complained about a developer who handed over a house without connecting the water and electricity supplies. When we questioned the developer, they showed us an approved form from the local authority," Ong said.
