Residents complained about project earlier: MP
Malay Mail 16/12/2004

KUALA LUMPUR: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, who visited the site yesterday, said the residents had complained about the project even before the incident occurred.

She said residents of the nearby Faber Ria apartments had protested against the project, claiming that the soil was not suitable for a project of such scale.

"They also claimed that the houses were already built too close to one another, thus making it more dangerous should something untoward happen," she said.

Kok added that the project failed to adhere to several by-laws, one of which was an adequate buffer zone and fencing between nearby homes and the site.

"The site also failed to adequately display the details of the project. There is only a small signboard near the entrance of the Faber Ria apartments listing the particulars of the project.

"This may lead some to question as to whether the project has actually obtained City Hall's approval."

She said she would meet Datuk Bandar Datuk Ruslin Hasan today on the matter.
