Developers to provide built-in bins for homes
The Star 18/11/2002 By Elan Perumal

KLANG: Developers will be required to provide built-in waste bins for future homes in Selangor, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo.

Dr Khir said the state local government committee was conducting a study on ways to implement this concept in future housing estates.

He said the study would also estimate the additional cost to be incurred by developers.

“The proposed waste bins will be made of concrete so that it cannot be moved around and the question of missing bins will not arise.

“We propose that such bins be built for every two houses so that a bin can be shared by two homes,” he said after launching the Bandar Botanic’s Your Home In The Garden concept by Gamuda Bhd here yesterday.

Besides providing a uniformed waste bin for homes in the state, Dr Khir said the concept would also able to resolve problems such as houseowners having to find appropriate bins and other problems faced by the local authorities.
