Making trust priority no.1
18/05/2001 NST-PROP

DEVELOPERS must make a concerted effort to erase the negative image in the industry caused by their errant peers in order to win buyers' confidence and trust. The industry's image has no doubt been tarnished by errant developers, the problem of which is more widespread than we think it is.

Aside from the few highly-publicised cases, there are many buyers throughout the country who find themselves faced with late or uncertain delivery of purchased units and projects being abandoned.

In some cases buyers have found themselves in a situation where the developer is not even in possession of the necessary licenses and permits to undertake the development they sold to the unsuspecting public.

Notwithstanding the fact that the relevant authorities ought to have been more vigilant of errant developers and stricter in their enforcement of the laws, it is still not to late for them to intervene and resolve the predicament such buyers are in.
