"MALAYSIA : MY SECOND HOME" program is to allow people from all over the world, who fulfill certain criteria, to stay in Malaysia as long as possible on a social visit pass with multiple entry visa. The Social Visit Pass is initially for a period of 5 years and renewable.


WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

It is open to all citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender or age.

The applicant must prove a minimum fixed deposit of RM150,000 with any Malaysian financial institution AND have a monthly offshore income equivalent to at least RM7,000 if single or RM10,000 if with spouse. But if applicant is above 50 years old, he has only to prove either a fixed deposit of the same amount OR a monthly income as stated.


OTHER CONDITIONS

Having a reputable sponsor can be a help. However, this condition is not required if the financial background and status of the applicant satisfies the Processing Officer.

To have a medical report from any recognized hospital.

A medical health insurance valid in Malaysia.

The successful applicant cannot seek gainful employment in Malaysia unless he posseses special expertise and obtains the permission of the Malaysian government

Residence:

There are quality residences - terrace houses, semi-detached, bungalows, apartments and condominiums all over the country. There are also some of the finest residences available in tourism zones - on beaches, near jungles and near theme parks, recreational places and city centres. Foreigners are eligible to buy 2 houses at a cost of not less than RM150,000 each. For this purpose, they are also entitled for 60% loan from local banks.

HOW TO APPLY?

Application can be made direct to :-

Any Malaysian representative Offices overseas and also Tourism Malaysia Offices

Applications can also be made through agents, lawyers and others.

To be enclosed with the application are two (2) passport-size photographs of the applicant, spouse and accompanying children together with relevant supporting documents.


APPROVAL

Under normal circumstances, all applications that fulfill the criteria should be processed and approved within 30 days after submission of the application.

The Malaysian government welcomes all foreign citizens to enter and stay in this country on a long stay Social Visit Pass under the 'Malaysia - My Second Home Programme '

This Programme DOES NOT guarantee a Permanent Resident status:


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

AGE:
This programme is open to all category of citizens with no age limit, and are allowed to bring along their dependants who are not schooling or schooling and also one maid.

FINANCE/ INCOME:

Applicants 50 years and above.

(i) Applicant with their spouse (either one of the spouse MUST be above 50 years old) can choose EITHER to have a Fixed Deposit (in a local Malaysia bank) of RM 150,000.00 OR derive a Fixed Monthly income of not less than RM 10,000.00, can be issued with a Social Visit Pass for a duration of 5 years together with a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV).

(ii) Individual applicant can choose EITHER to have a Fixed Deposit (in a local Malaysian bank) of RM 100,000.00 OR derive a Fixed Monthly income of not less than RM 7000.00, can be issued with a Social Visit Pass for a duration of 5 years together with a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV).

Applicants below 50 years old (applications must be submitted to Malaysia Immigration Department Headquarters):

(i) Applicants with their spouse must have a Fixed Deposit (in a local Malaysian bank) of RM 150,000.00 AND derive a Fixed Monthly income of not less than RM 10,000.00, can be issued with a Social Visit Pass for a duration of 5 year together with a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV).

(ii) Individual applicants must have a Fixed Deposit (in a local Malaysian bank) of RM 100,000.00 AND derive a Fixed Income of not less than RM 7000.00, can be issued with a Social Visit Pass for a duration of 5 years together with a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV).


SPONSOR:

The requirement of a sponsor can be waived if enough proof can be provided to show that applicant is genuine, and there is no falsification of applicant's background, financial status and lifestyle. Applicants can acquire the services of companies that have registered with the Malaysian Immigration Department.

INSURANCE COVERAGE /MEDICAL REPORT:

Applicants must possess a valid medical insurance policy from any insurance company that is applicable in Malaysia together with a medical report from any recognized Medical Institution.

EDUCATION:

Applicants are allowed to bring along their dependants (children) either not schooling or are schooling in primary, secondary or in any Institution of Higher Learning. However, dependants who are schooling, are required to apply for a Student Pass to continue their education in schools or Institutions of Higher Learning recognized by the government.

TAXES:

Successful applicants are bound by the policies, systems and regulations of taxes of this country, and they do not have exemption qualifications as granted to Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applications can be submitted while the applicant is in the country provided that the applicant is in possession of a valid Pass. Successful applicants, are exempted from the requirement of leaving the country to obtain a Visa from Malaysian Representative Office abroad, Visa will be issued IN Malaysia together with a Social Visit Pass.

Applicants may submit their applications by providing the following documents:

· Letter Application
· 2 copies of IMM.12- Social Visit application Form (obtainable at all Malaysian Immigration Departments)
· 2 passport sized photographs of applicant and spouse (if accompanied by spouse)
· Copies of all pages of travel document of the applicant and spouse (if accompanied by spouse)
· Copy of Marriage Certificate, if accompanied by spouse
· Copy of certified Bank Statement and Medical Report from a recognized Medical Institution in Malaysia.
· A RM10.00 Personal Bond From stamped by the stamp Duty Office.
· A Copy of the sponsors Identity Card (if applicable)


PLACE OF APPLICATION:

Applicants may make their application at any of the following place:

· Malaysian Immigration Department Headquarters.
· State Immigration Departments
· All Malaysian Representative Offices Overseas, and
· All Malaysian Tourism Offices.

EXEMPTION:

The following requirements can be relaxed by giving conditional approval. However, upon approval,
the applicant MUST produce proof of the following documents before endorsement of the Social Visit Pass
can be granted:

· Saving in bank or recognized Financial Institutions in Malaysia.
· Medical insurance policy acceptable and applicable in Malaysia.
· Medical Report.


RESTRICTIONS:

Successful applicants are STRICTLY forbidden from the following:

Participating in activities that can be considered as sensitive to the local people e.g. political activities, missionary activities and provocative or instigative activities that can be considered as sensitive and a threat to the security of the country.

Being employed anywhere in Malaysia unless approved by the government.


FEE RATE

A payment of RM90.00 per year is charged for the issuance of a Social Visit Pass under
The "Malaysia- My Second Home Programme". Visa fee is chargeable according to the
existing rate applicable to each country.


APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION

The following documents must be submitted when applying for an extension under this
programme:

· Form IMM. 55
· Form IMM. 38
· Latest certified Financial Statement from the local bank or Financial Institution
· Original Passport/Travel Document of applicant


CLIENT CHARTER

For new application that fulfill all the requirements, the status of the application will be made know to the applicant after 30 working days from the date of submission of the application. Application for extension will be made known after 14 working days.
